Scottsdale Philharmonic Youth Orchestra Conductor



Dr. Daniel Atwood holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Horn Performance from James Madison University and a Masters Degree in Brass Performance from Florida State University.  He is principal horn with the Scottsdale Philharmonic.

Dr. Atwood has performed with the Taneycomo Festival Orchestra, Shenandoah Symphony Orchestra, Charlottesville Symphony Orchestra and the Rockbridge Symphony Orchestra.  He is currently teaching music in Scottsdale Arizona and is part of the Scottsdale Philharmonic's conducting team.

He is a dynamic performer who has played across the United States and Europe including appearances in Italy, France, Switzerland and Germany. Currently he is a member of the Scottsdale Philharmonic and the Taneycomo Festival Orchestra.  Dr. Atwood has made solo appearances both as a Contributing Artist at the 2016 Southeast Horn Workshop. 

Dr. Atwood enjoys volunteering in the community and provides free piano lessons at the Alice Cooper Solid Rock Foundation along with giving free masterclasses to groups of students in Phoenix area schools.
